Basil Twist is a conjurer, imbuing inanimate objects with the breath of life. From humble ingredients – fabric, paper, foam, string, light – he creates immersive fantasy worlds – phantasmagoric theatrical journeys featuring his funny, sexy and glamorous puppets and stage effects. Twist’s original productions The Araneidae Show, Dogugaeshi, and the underwater puppet ballet Symphonie Fantastique garnered awards and played around the world. This past year on Broadway he creatured The Pee-Wee Herman Show and The Addams Family. Arias with a Twist Deluxe, an enhanced remounting of the smash hit collaboration between Twist and underground cabaret star Joey Arias, opens at the Abrons Arts Center on 14th September, 2011.
